World War II. What do you think of when you hear someone say that? Perhaps the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Maybe the hard fought battles on Omaha Beach, Iwo Jima, and other spots around the globe. Perhaps some of you would think of the Holocaust and the six-million Jews killed. That’s a big number. Six-million. My country fought in World War II to prevent the evil that caused those deaths (and many more) from taking over the world. According to Wikipedia, more then 407,000 American soldiers died in World War II. They died defending the cause of freedom. Unfortunately, that freedom that they fought and died for has allowed Americans to murder the innocent. Approximately 47,282,923 babies have been aborted in the U.S.A since 1973.[1] That’s more than seven times the number of Jews killed in the holocaust and more than one-hundred fifteen times the number of American soldiers killed in World War II! Abortion is wrong. We, the people of the United States of America, should stand and vote against abortion. In this essay you will discover one of the reasons to do so; because abortion is detrimental to society.
[1] Source: The Guttmacher Institute (a special affiliate to Planned Parenthood), which actively collects the abortion data directly from providers. All numbers reported are voluntary; there are no laws requiring abortionists to report to any national agency the numbers of abortions they perform. 2001-2002 are estimates by Guttmacher; 2003-2005 are estimates by the National Right to Life Committee.

Hey everyone, this is Josh. Give me some input on this and tell me what you think, will ya? (And don't be afraid to tell me it stinks, if that's what you think) Btw, I copied and pasted the footnote; is that allowed?

I think that's really good. It will catch interest and people will want to keep reading. One thing I do have to say though is that although Wikipedia is a great site I don't think you should quote it in your final paper. Though it's often true, it's not considered to be a reliable source because anyone can put anything on there at anytime.

How did you get those foot notes on there? It looks really professional. <><

Thanks for the input. There's something in Microsoft Word that you can press to help you with footnote formatting. Look for a button that looks sort've like this: ab1

This has potential to be a great intro. I especially like your comparison between the number of Americans who died in war with the number of Americans who have died in abortion clinics. It could be shorter and still be effective.
